Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's first beta weekend has now come to a close. However,
the second beta weekend will kick off on the 19th for those who have pre-ordered the upcoming instalment in the first-person shooter series and on the 21st for those who haven't.
Unlike the beta event that recently took place, the upcoming one will involve both the Xbox One and PC as well as the PlayStation 4. Crossplay will be in effect. This means that you might encounter users who aren't playing on the same platform that you are — this goes for both the upcoming beta weekend as well as the full game itself.
To keep the gameplay relatively fair in spite of this,
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will make use of input-based matchmaking — like
Fortnite does. Console players will be able to use a mouse and keyboard and PC players will be able to use a controller. If all goes to plan, you'll be paired up with players who are using the same controller that you are.
Activision recently explained this concept in
a blog post wherein they also confirmed that you will be able to opt out of the feature if you'd like to. To opt into the crossplay feature in the first place, you'll need to create an official
Call of Duty account. Additionally, players will be able to form parties with their friends regardless of the platform that they're playing on.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will be coming to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on October 25th, 2019.
