Gears of War: Ascendance, written by New York Times bestselling author Jason M. Hough, will be released this year, giving you a chance to learn more about the events between Gears of War 4 and Gears 5...

The Coalition's Gears 5 sees Kait taking front-and-center as the series' first female protagonist. The title will also continue the story of Marcus Fenix and living in the fallen world in the post-Locust War era.

According to recent reports, Gears 5 will launch in October, there years after the release of Gears of 4.

The Gears of War: Ascendance novel will try to fill that time gap, picking up from the end of Gears 4 and leading directly into Gears 5, Microsoft has recently announced. Written by New York Times bestselling author Jason M. Hough (Mass Effect - Andromeda: Nexus Uprising) and published by Titan Books, Ascendance will be available later this year, but the exact release date hasn't been given yet.

We will definitely learn more about the fifth numbered entry in the acclaimed TPS series during Microsoft’s E3 2019 press conference in June.
