It looks like Ubisoft is developing yet another video game movie, this time green-lighting a film based on the best-selling music video games of all time, with over 120 million players worldwide – Just Dance. According to Deadline’s sources, multiple studios competed for the motion picture rights deal and Screen Gems has just recently managed to convince Ubisoft and acquired the said cinematic rights.
Ubisoft Film and Television and Olive Bridge Entertainment will develop and produce the project, as Jason Altman and Margaret Boykin will produce for Ubisoft Film and Television alongside Jodi Hildebrand and Will Gluck (he directed Peter Rabbit but won't helm the movie) for Olive Bridge Entertainment. The team is currently looking for writers who will pen the adaptation's screenplay.
The French company is producing movie adaptations for not only Just Dance, but also Watch_Dogs (with Sony Pictures Entertainment), based on the Tom Clancy's series, including Ghost Recon (produced by Michael Bay), Splinter Cell (with Platinum Dumes), and The Division (with Deadpool 2 Director David Leitch attached to helm the project), and also flicks inspired by Child of Light and Werewolves Within.
