MARVEL'S AVENGERS Has Been Revealed To Be The Best-Selling Game For The Month Of September

NPD Group analyst Mat Piscatella has recently revealed that Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics' MARVEL's Avengers has managed to top the list of best-selling video games for the month of September.

MARVEL's Avengers has been available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia for about a month and a half now, and the reception it's had is rather mixed. Most players and critics praise the main story, but the game itself is what has led many to rate it poorly.

While the developers at Crystal Dynamics have done their best to give players the best experience possible, it is very apparent that MARVEL's Avengers could've been delayed one more time in order to polish some of the game-breaking details that players have been encountering since day one.

(In related news, Square Enix has recently announced that the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of MARVEL's Avengers will no longer be releasing this year, as the launch date has been pushed back to 2021.)

As a matter of fact, the game recently experienced a massive dip in active Steam players due to the recurring issues that have been encountered in MARVEL's Avengers, which led to matchmaking issues that ruined the experience for players who are still playing the game.

Thankfully, Head of Studio at Crystal Dynamics Scott Amos quickly addressed the issue and reassured players that they were still working hard to give players the experience they always intended, while also revealing that he's confident PC players will return to MARVEL's Avengers.

In spite of the mixed to negative reception the game has had, information shared by NPD Group analyst Mat Piscatella reveals that MARVEL's Avengers has sold rather satisfactorily, which has led to Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics' recently released title to become the best-selling game for the month of September.

According to the information that Piscatella gathered, Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics' take on the Earth's Mightiest Heroes has managed to beat out Nintendo's Super Mario 3D All-Stars, currently sitting in the second spot, as well as Activision's Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2, which was actually released on the exact same day as MARVEL's Avengers

We don't know exactly how many copies have been sold, but chances are that either Square Enix or Crystal Dynamics will soon be giving us a more accurate number of units sold. Before they do, however, it would be great if they finally shared news about the additional content that was supposed to release right after the game launched. Just saying.

Marvel’s Avengers begins at A-Day, where Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk, Black Widow, and Thor are unveiling a hi-tech Avengers Headquarters in San Francisco — including the reveal of their own helicarrier powered by an experimental energy source. The celebration turns deadly when a catastrophic accident results in massive devastation. Blamed for the tragedy, the Avengers disband. Five years later, with all Super Heroes outlawed and the world in peril, the only hope is to reassemble Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

MARVEL's Avengers is currently available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia; PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X expected to release in 2021.
