While nothing has been officially confirmed by Activision or Infinity Ward yet, chances are that 2009's controversial
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will finally get the long-rumored "remastered" treatment.
Thanks to a recently discovered listing on TrueAchievements, a special website that tracks players' achievements in various video games and applications, mostly for Xbox One and Xbox 360, it's almost official that
CoD: Modern Warfare 2 will return reimagined at some point in the foreseeable future.
Although it's not clear whether or not the listing was added to the website deliberately, it's safe to say that the long-awaited remaster is happening – as it has already leaked on three different occasions.
According to some recent rumors,
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - Remastered will follow in the first game's footsteps and won't feature any additional multiplayer modes, focusing solely on delivering a familiar – even if modernized – solo experience. Apparently, the project is being developed at Beenox – the studio responsible for
Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions and
Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled.
At the time of writing, Activision hadn't revealed any plans to release
Modern Warfare 2 - Remastered.
