With just one week to go until the next chapter of Fortnite, Epic Games is teasing a collaboration with one of the biggest video game franchises.
Over on social media, the official Fortnite Twitter/X account posted an image featuring the iconic Power Armor helmet from Fallout. The armor is associated with The Brotherhood of Steel, a post-War technology-focused, quasi-religious paramilitary order.
Accompanying the image was a pair of images — a winking face with a thumbs up — depicting the blonde-hair Vault Boy, the corporate mascot of the Vault-Tec Corporation.
Meanwhile, Epic Games also updated Fortnite's in-game news feed, confirming that Chapter 5 Season 3: Wrecked will arrive “courtesy of the Brotherhood of Steel” one week from today on May 24.
At this point, it's unclear what sort of content will be featured in Fortnite. Typical franchise crossovers in Fortnite feature cosmetic items, unique in-game weapons, or sometimes Limited Time Modes. It's possible the new season could introduce the mech-like Power Armor, or maybe some underground vaults. Maybe we'll even get a few purchasable skins or even music.
There's no shortage of recognizable characters from the Fallout franchise that would make for some fun cosmetics. The most obvious that comes to mind is Vault Boy and his iconic blue jumpsuit.
The Fallout collaboration comes just a couple of weeks after the television series adaptation premiered on Amazon's Prime Video. The series was a smash hit for Prime Video, ranking among the service’s top three most-watched titles ever and the most-watched season globally since Rings of Power. Amazon was quick to renew the series for a second season.
It's possible that the new collaboration could even feature some character skins inspired by the series — like perhaps a skin based on Walton Goggins' Cooper Howard, aka The Ghoul, or Ella Purnell's Lucy MacLean. And, of course, there's no shortage of music that Epic could pull from to feature in its game as an emote.
Some also noted the dusty cloud and dieselpunk inspirations in the image, which has led to speculation that Chapter 5 Season 3 will also be partly inspired by Mad Max. There are rumors that there could be an emphasis on vehicular combat, and possibly a Furiosa crossover as well.
With Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 now just a week away, it won't be long before we get more information — either officially through Epic Games or unofficially through leaks and speculatoin.
