Call of Duty: Black Ops is a series of first-person shooter games developed by Treyarch and published by Activision. Black Ops is a spin-off of the original Call of Duty released in 2003 that began with a focus on single player campaigns, as well as multiplayer and online multiplayer. The games' reception has always been very positive, getting almost perfect scores from reviewers with every entry released since the franchise's inception.Metacritic gave the first Black Ops an 80/100 on most platforms and most of the other gaming sites like IGN or GameSpot rated the game by giving it 8s or even 9s out of 10.
Call of Duty: Black Ops also established Zombies as one of the staples in the series. The Zombie Mode was originally introduced in Call of Duty: World at War(2008). This new Zombie Mode consisted of a 4-player online mode, or 2-player split-screen, that saw players fighting unlimited numbers of Nazi zombies. I mean, why not, right?
The next entry in the series, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, is set to be released in October of this year and according to sources, the game may not include some of the staple campaigns in the series.
According to sources, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will not be including a single player campaign as the developer chooses to focus on multiplayer and the zombies mode, instead...that's right, the zombies mode. According to Polygon, their sources asked for anonimity but were able to reveal that the single player campaign won't even be ready in time for the game's launch.
One of the sources mentioned that Treyarch shifted their focus on the single player campaign to expand on multiplayer and the zombie's mode due to said time constraints. If this was really the case, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 would be the first game in the series, since its launch in 2003, to not feature a single player campaign.
While the teaser trailer did seem to focus on zombies a lot, I don't think many people expected the whole game to only focus on that. It looks like the teaser was, indeed, showing off everything the game had to offer.
Whatever the case, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is supposed to be fully revealed during a community event taking place on May 17th. Until then..."Forget what you know."
