One of the most popular games and series in the Star Wars universe, Knights of the Old Republic, is adored so much by fans that a third installment is always being requested. However, according to Jason Schreier, the third game was indeed attempted but never got to see the light of day.

A fan by the name of Philippe Cadieux went to Twitter to talk about the lack of a third game and Schreier, a news editor at Kotaku, replied that they "tried to make it happen, more than once from what I've heard. No luck." Now, there is no official word from EA or BioWare on why this third installment has not been green-lit.

Fans had their hopes reignited when a remaster of the first game hit mobile devices and the Xbox One got backward compatibility with original Xbox games. Knights of the Old Republic was one of the top games available and fans were quick to speculate that maybe a third installment was not that far fetched.

EA has been in troubled waters when it comes to the Star Wars license, however, if something happens and a third KOTR game pops up, we will let you know. For now, fans have Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order to look forward to.
