Earlier in December of last year, a rumour was doing the rounds suggesting that an HD remaster of
Metroid Prime: Trilogy was being developed by Nintendo and would be releasing for the Switch.
While the information came from an unofficial source, chances of it actually being true were slim — although not improbable; especially since it would make sense to have the
Metroid Prime: Trilogy launching ahead of the highly anticipated
Metroid Prime 4's release.
After yesterday's announcement that
Metroid Prime 4 was being officially delayed, Game Informer Senior Editor
Imran Khan revealed some of the reasons behind the game's delay, as well as mentioning some interesting details about the rumoured
Metroid Prime: Trilogy HD remaster.
According to Khan, the
Metroid Prime: Trilogy HD remaster isn't really a rumour and, not only that, the game is currently ready to be released — claiming that the official announcement was supposed to be last month; probably around the same time the first rumour surfaced.
If what Khan says is true, it would make total sense that Nintendo would hold off on the announcement, especially when they knew
Metroid Prime 4 was in a delicate state of development. Now that Nintendo has officially delayed
Metroid Prime 4, maybe they'll soon announce the
Metroid Prime: Trilogy HD remaster in order to keep fans busy while Retro Studios works on the highly anticipated sequel. All we have to do now is wait for that almost inevitable official announcement from Nintendo.
