NVIDIA has distributed a new video that shows the new cutting-edge technology of Ray Tracing lighting present in their new GeForce RTX. Using Metro Exodus on PC as an example in the video, it details the way in which the game will be seen on an RTX 2080 Ti.

We remind you that this technology simulates the physical behavior of light, calculating the color of the pixels when plotting the path that light would take if it traveled from the viewer's eye through the virtual 3D scene.

As you go through the scene, the light can be reflected from one object to another (causing reflections), blocked with objects (causing shadows) or through transparent or semitransparent objects (which cause refractions).

All of these interactions combine to produce the final color of a pixel that is then displayed on the screen. If you want to learn more on Ray Tracing, here is more information in a YouTube video.

Metro Exodus is the continuation of the Metro saga, a series of action and survival video games set in an apocalyptic world located in Russia and Eastern Europe.

This sequel, by Deep Silver and 4A Games, goes a step beyond the usual gameplay of the previous games, and will show more open spaces, new playable mechanics and a more ambitious and detailed audiovisual section.
