PlanetSide Arena, Daybreak Games' battle royale spinoff of the popular
PlanetSide multiplayer online shooter, has been delayed.
In a development letter to fans, the studio announced that
PlanetSide Arena will launch on March 26, 2019. The delay will allow Daybreak to make
"crucial feature enhancements and core systems improvements" that
"will lift PlanetSide Arena to the level it deserves."
PlanetSide Arena has been in the playtesting phase for a few months with a small core group of players from the community. While Daybreak acknowledged that they've made great strides during this time, it seems there is still more work to do.
"This game is a passion project for our team, with massive potential to occupy a unique space within the PlanetSide series and the overall shooter genre. And while we agonized about this decision down to the deadline, we ultimately decided taking extra time to supplement our feature set, fully optimize engine performance, and improve server infrastructure was absolutely necessary to deliver the quality, polished game the PlanetSide community deserves," the developer said.
On the bright side, the first Closed Beta for
PlanetSide Arena will begin on Wednesday, January 30. Not only will this give participants a first look at the upcoming game, but it will provide Daybreak with valuable information regarding the game's systems, servers, and backend infrastructure. It will also allow you to provide crucial feedback to create a better overall experience.
Daybreak also shared the first details for the Founders Season, an added bonus for those who pre-order
PlanetSide Arena. Beginning February 20, 2019, the Founders Season will feature an exclusive Batt Pass filled with items only earned during this season. Everyone who pre-orders
PlanetSide Arena will receive immediate access to the Founders Season and Battle Pass on February 20.
PlanetSide Arena launches March 26, 2019, for PC.
