11 bit studios has released a brand new DLC for
This War of Mine to celebrate the acclaimed game's 4th anniversary. The expansion, titled
The Last Broadcast, is out now on Steam, giving you a chance to check out a brand new story set in
This War of Mine universe, but that's not all, as the Polish developer also remastered 7 locations and added 4 completely new ones into the core experience.
The Last Broadcast tells the story of Malik, a radio broadcaster carrying on his sworn mission to keep the people living in the war-torn city of Pogoren informed about everything that may be vital to them. This DLC was co-written by Meg Jayanth, writer of IGF-winning game
80 days, allowing you to explore the areas of one’s morality featuring new playable civilians, city sites, and gameplay mechanics.
The Mac and Linux versions, modding and game controller support for the DLC are also coming soon. While 11 bit studios is constantly supporting their older games (like
This War of Mine and
Frostpunk), the team is working hard on a game codenamed
Project 8, that will reportedly offer an extraordinary experience. Sadly, there’s a ton of work to be done before 11 bit unveil any further details. Take a look:
In This War Of Mine you do not play as an elite soldier, rather a group of civilians trying to survive in a besieged city; struggling with lack of food, medicine and constant danger from snipers and hostile scavengers. The game provides an experience of war seen from an entirely new angle. The pace of This War of Mine is imposed by the day and night cycle. During the day snipers outside stop you from leaving your refuge, so you need to focus on maintaining your hideout: crafting, trading and taking care of your survivors. At night, take one of your civilians on a mission to scavenge through a set of unique locations for items that will help you stay alive.
This War of Mine is currently available for Android, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, iOS, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, Mac OS, and Linux.
