On Tuesday of last week,
Sega announced that they would be putting on hold shipments and digital sales of Judgment, their new intellectual by Yakuza Studios, but only in Japan. The reason for this had to do with Pierre Taki being arrested due to the alleged use of cocaine; something that violates Japan's drug control law.
Given that
Judgment was released in Japan last December, it was unclear whether the western release would also be put on hold, especially since Taki's arrest was a huge deal in Japan;
with companies wanting to cut ties with the actor the minute he declared himself guilty.
Today, Sega has revealed that the western release of
Judgment, scheduled for the
25th of June, will not be pushed back at all. They have, however, temporarily removed all trailers and screenshots of the game, uploaded to social media, as they will be replacing both the voice and appearance of the character Pierre Taki was playing; promising fans that they will be updating them and making them available at a later date.
SEGA of America is proud to announce that the new courtroom thriller from Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios, Project JUDGE (working title), will release in 2019 on the PlayStation®4. Project JUDGE will feature the voice acting talents of Japanese actor/artist Takuya Kimura as the game's main protagonist, Takayuki Yagami.
Judgment is expected to be available for the PlayStation 4 on the 25th of June.
