There's no denying that allowing players to take hi-res pictures from their adventures in modern open-world games is one of the easiest ways to allow the community promote your game (for free). Ubisoft knows that very well (even
Starlink: Battle for Atlas features a photo mode), but it looks like SIE Bend Studio has also learned that lesson, with
Days Gone allowing players manipulate a digital camera.
"
The vast Central Oregon wilderness is so beautifully crafted and rendered in Days Gone it’s easy to forget that you’re playing a game," Director Jeff Ross wrote on PlayStation Blog. "
Our aim with Photo Mode was to make players feel like they’re manipulating a real camera in the real world," giving players a tool with 9 custom frames, 18 filter presets and
"tons of ways to fine-tune your shots."
Days Gone also features the
Advanced Mode, giving players a chance to use 55 different settings across Bloom, Color Grading, and Color Depth Grading panels. "
We worked closely with members of our Art team, including some Hollywood veterans, to help define the essential properties to capture all the power and flexibility that comes with professional photo editing software," Ross explained.
Bend Studio's upcoming PlayStation 4 exclusive
Days Gone will tell the story of Deacon St. Josh (played by Sam Witwer), a bounty hunter facing an uneven struggle for survival while desperately searching for a reason to live in the zombified, changed world. To see another day in this hostile environment, the hopeless main protagonist will use a variety of weapons and his old bike to fight for what is right.
At its core, Days Gone is about survivors and what makes them human: desperation, loss, madness, betrayal, friendship, brotherhood, regret, love—and hope. It's about how, even when confronted with such enormous tragedy, hope never dies. Play as Deacon St. John, a bounty hunter facing a brutal struggle for survival while searching for a reason to live.
Days Gone will be available for PlayStation 4 on April 26, 2019.
