In the upcoming PS4 exclusive
Days Gone, the main story picks up several years after the fatal outbreak of a deadly virus has ravaged the US (and possibly the rest of the world), changing its citizens into "infected," as Bend Studio calls them. To see another day in this hostile environment, main protagonist Deacon will use a variety of weapons, including shotguns, sniper rifles, napalm, and Molotov cocktails.
According to Bend Studio,
Days Gone is a single-player-focused experience, which means you should forget about playing it with friends in co-op or strangers in multiplayer. While
Days is being developed as a story-driven video game, it doesn't mean it always was that way, as Saber Interactive's CEO Matt Karch recently revealed that the company has pitched a
Days Gone multiplayer mode to Sony.
"
Days Gone, it’s a single-player experience. At some point I went to Sony and said, “I’ve seen what you’re doing with Days Gone. Look what we’re doing with World War Z. Maybe we can help you with a multiplayer component.” But they were obviously too focused, and understandably, on what they needed to do to get that game out," Karch explained in an interview originally reported by Wccftech.
Although
Days Gone won't feature a Saber-designed multiplayer component (at least at launch), the
Inversion, Timeshift, and
Quake Champions studio have their hands full, as they are currently busy working on the aforementioned
World War Z video game adaptation that is coming to PS4, Windows PC and Xbox One in 2019 offering a four-player cooperative action and hordes of zombies to kill.
Set in the beautiful, volcanic scarred high-desert of the Pacific Northwest, Days Gone is an open-world action-adventure game where you play as Deacon St. John, a Drifter and bounty hunter who would rather risk the dangers of the broken road than live in one of the “safe” wilderness encampments.
Days Gone will be available for PlayStation 4 on April 26, 2019.
