After Yakuza Studios was done with the
Yakuza series, after releasing the brilliant
Yakuza 6: The Song of Life in April of this year, they were ready to begin working on a new intellectual property—and they revealed
Project Judge to the world.
Project Judge was announced back in September and it is a game that the studio describes as a courtroom thriller set in the same world of the Yakuza series; although Yakuza Studios has made very clear that Yakuza characters will not be referenced at all in their new game.
From what we've seen so far,
Project Judge will feature some similar controls to that seen in the Yakua series, which already makes it look like a proper Yakuza title; featuring a fairly similar, and familiar fighting style.
Today, Sega has revealed that
Project Judge, which was only the working title for the game, will now be called
Judgment, and have officially released an announcement trailer; claiming that the game will be releasing in the West during
Summer of 2019.
What's interesting about the trailer is that it's been fully dubbed to English, which is one of the things that many
Yakuza fans complained about since
Yakuza games were never dubbed. It hasn't been revealed whether the game will have dual audio for players to switch between English and Japanese, but we at least know that Yakuza Studios has fully dubbed
Judgment.
Take a look:
SEGA of America is proud to announce that the new courtroom thriller from Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios, Project JUDGE (working title), will release in 2019 on the PlayStation®4. Project JUDGE will feature the voice acting talents of Japanese actor/artist Takuya Kimura as the game's main protagonist, Takayuki Yagami.
JUDGMENT will be available for the PlayStation 4 in Summer of 2019.
