Players have not been too convinced about the upcoming Xbox Series X, Microsoft's next-gen console, and they actually have some pretty good reasons. The console itself, as in the its overall shape, did not really impress, although its specs seem quite remarkable.
Microsoft held an Xbox Series X presentation a couple of months ago, nad it was heavily criticised due to featuring little to no gameplay of the games being showcased. The games announced also got a rather lukewarm reception from players, although some titles did look very promising.
Here's the thing: most players are relying on the Xbox Series X's exclusive titles to decide whether this is the console they will be picking this next generation of consoles, since the PlayStation 5 has already convinced quite a few people by announcing some exclusives like Horizon Forbidden West and MARVEL's Spider-Man: Miles Morales.
Today we may have some sour news for those expecting to see some Xbox Series X titles being announced soon, as Microsoft's Phil Spencer has recently revealed that their upcoming console exclusive titles will not have any exclusive in the first couple of years.
"You won’t be forced into the next generation. We want every Xbox player to play all the new games from Xbox Game Studios. That’s why Xbox Game Studios titles we release in the next couple of years — like Halo Infinite — will be available and play great on Xbox Series X and Xbox One. We won’t force you to upgrade to Xbox Series X at launch to play Xbox exclusives," revealed spencer on the official Xbox News blog.
Now, of course this doesn't mean that Xbox as a brand won't be getting some exclusive titles, but it does make difficult to justify purchasing a new console if, for the next couple of years, all of those titles will also be available on Xbox One.
With all that said, Microsoft has already mentioned that they have encouraged developers not to charge players extra to upgrade Xbox One titles on Xbox Series X as downloadable content; promoting compatibility with both of their flagship consoles.
A special Xbox Series X video game showcase has been scheduled for next Thursday the 23rd of July, so players will finally be able to see what games are coming to Xbox Series X when the console launches this Holiday; just don't expect to see next-gen exclusives, as there won't be any.
