Back when it was officially announced that
Overwatch would be coming to the Nintendo Switch, many fans speculated that one of its many heroes could end up being added to the
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster. The director of
Overwatch and its upcoming sequel even made it clear that Nintendo can use which ever character they want —
more on that here.
But let's turn the tables around a little bit because the aforementioned director of
Overwatch recently revealed the one character he would love to feature on the hero roster in
Overwatch 2 and it's certainly an interesting choice — it's Link from Nintendo's iconic
Legend of Zelda game series.
According to Jeff Kaplan,
"nothing would make me happier" than Link making the jump from Hyrule to Numbani or Volskaya Industries. This was revealed in a quick-fire
Game Informer interview with the game director. The likelihood of this happening seems slim given that the first-person competitive game hasn't previously featured any guest characters.
However, it's fun to imagine what that might look like. Not that you have to, though. Back in September, some very talented fans of both
Overwatch and
The Legend of Zelda decided to combine the two.
Head over to this previous article to get a look at exactly what Link would look like in the futuristic world of
Overwatch.
