At its core, Chernobylite is a sci-fi survival horror in the same vein as the critically acclaimed Get Even from June 2017. That comparison is not completely out of place, as Chernobylite is currently being made at the Gliwice-based Farm 51, the Polish game development studio that gave us NecroVision, Painkiller Hell & Damnation, Deadfall Adventures, World War 3, and the aforementioned Get Even.

The Farm 51 has finally released the very first proper gameplay trailer for Chernobylite, and while the video itself is definitely not the longest one, it does give us an unique opportunity to take a closer look at the horrifying recreation of the fallen and pretty radioactive world of the Chernobyl Power Plant.

It looks like the scope of Chernobylite is even bigger than The Farm 51 initially thought, as the studio will organize a Kickstarter campaign "within the next few weeks." In a statement from The Farm 51's CEO Wojciech Pazdur, we read that the devs "figured out that everybody wants the same: to explore the destroyed Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant and Pripyat ghost city as deeply as it's possible."

"Then we decided to expand these locations in the game comparing to the original concept and ask you for help in doing that," Pazdur continues. "It's hard and dangerous task, assuming that we need to make some extra trips to the Exclusion Zone and scan more buildings and objects." According to the CEO, the crowdfunding initiative will allow you to "pre-order the game and buy many cool gifts, including our highly demanded Black Stalker mask, and will let us collect some extra funds to do the Chernobylite location expansions plus add some extra features that we were always dreaming of."

Given that Chernobylite might very well be the most ambitious project The Farm 51 has ever made, the community's help will definitely make the development a bit easier, even if it means that the upcoming horror will be pushed back a couple of weeks, or even months. Be sure to take a closer look at the strangely beautiful, and also quite terrifying, world of The Farm 51's Chernobylite down below:

Chernobylite is a new game from the creators of the critically-acclaimed Get Even. It's a science-fiction survival horror experience, mixing the free exploration of its disturbing world with challenging combat, unique crafting, and non-linear storytelling. Play as a physicist, one of the Chernobyl Power Plant’s ex-employees, and investigate the mysterious disappearance of your beloved. Try to survive and reveal the contamination zone’s twisted secrets. Remember, the military presence is not your only concern. Get ready for a thrilling adventure of survival, conspiracy, horror, love, and obsession. One that will prove to you that it’s not about how you face your fears, it’s about how you survive them.

Chernobylite is coming to PC this fall.
