New Report Suggests That The Majority Of CALL OF DUTY Players Don't Even Finish The Game's Campaign

A new report has surfaced and it seems to conclude that the majority of Call of Duty players do not even complete the main campaign of the game before jumping into Multiplayer.

Activision has been getting some flak over the past few weeks because, apparently, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 won't feature a Single Player campaign and will focus on multiplayer, and Zombies, instead. This seems to agree with other reports that say Activision is, indeed, looking to get in on the Battle Royale trend, and it's mainly because of the massive growth in popularity that games like Fortnite, and PUBG have had this year.

The news itself wouldn't be so jarring if it wasn't for the fact that a new report seems to confirm that most of these complainers do not even finish the main campaign in Call of Duty games, at all. According to IGN, via TrueAchievements, most Call of Duty players, at least on Microsoft platforms, rarely complete the game's story mode before jumping into multiplayer.

This information is the result of a study that focused on the achievements that players unlocked in various games. The results were showing that most players would often get one achievement per mission - which plays out more like an exception rather than a norm. The interesting thing that this study showed was that most Call of Duty players dropped the Story mode not even halfway through the game.

Since achievements became a thing in the series with Call of Duty 2,  the game that has the highest on average percentage of achievements unlocked is, surprisingly, Call of Duty 3 with a 35.91%. Upon closer inspection, 74.01% of players had completed basic training, and only a 25.67% actually completed Story mode. On the other hand, Call of Duty: Black Ops III is the game with the lowest percentage of achievements unlocked with a 4.14% of players that finished the campaign, despite it being one of the top-selling games in 2015.

Again, these stats are for Call of Duty games on Microsoft platforms due to the nature of the achievements, but it is safe to assume that the same numbers apply to other consoles, as well. If that's the case, Activision probably know about this - and have known for a long time - and it's the main reason why Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 won't be featuring a Single Player campaign and all the reports were right. All we can do now is wait for the game's reveal tonight and see if the past reports are finally confirmed or revoked.
